From the very beginning, MBSCC envisioned a healthy, safe, whole community that supports and fosters healthy families, believing that healthy families create and comprise healthy communities. Beginning in 1989 and the launch of the Project Work Prepared, a work-training program for public assistance recipients, MBSCC has provided services to residents, stakeholders and staff.  From human services (training, job resource center, family social services) to housing development (over 600 units of family housing), to economic revitalization (Neighborhood Based Alliance, 161st Street BID), MBSCC has designed programs and services geared towards enhancing the quality of life for community families and enabling them to remain in the community.  Today, our family services programming serves thousands of residents annually and includes: Family Preservation Center, Fatherhood Initiative, Neighborhood Partners Initiative, Food Pantry / Hunger Prevention, Family Social Services, Community Development and Workforce Development programs.
